INNSBRUCK, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Luka Modric sat out Croatia's Euro 2008 training session on Monday with a slight Achilles tendon injury to his right leg.

Nearly 2,000 fans showed up to watch Croatia's first open training session at Bad Tatzmannsdorf in Austria, but the lively crowd were denied a glimpse of the 22-year-old, according to UEFA official website.

Reports suggested that Modric was rested as a precaution more than anything.

"It's nothing serious and he is exercising on his own," said team spokesman Davor Gavran.

The talented playmaker, whose penalty kick gave Croatia a 1-0 win over co-hosts Austria on Sunday, picked up a knock in their Group B opener.

Croatia are now second in the group behind Germany, who were 2-0 winners over Poland, and will meet them in Klagenfurt on Thursday before facing the Poles at the same venue next Monday.
