Special Report:   2008 European Championships

BERN, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Italy coach Roberto Donadoni made moderate comments on the shock 3-0 defeat to the Netherlands in their opening Euro 2008 match here on Monday, saying the team played a few minutes good match.

"I don't know if it's my worst game as Italy coach," he said. "In the first half, the Dutch didn't really do that much better than us, and we started well. Then we made some mistakes and conceded a couple of goals."

"Now we have two games which we need to win, we will do everything we can," he added.

It was the most lopsided loss for Italy in the history of the European Championship, first lose to the Dutch since 1978.

Donadoni did not complain on the controversial first goal by Ruud van Nistelrooy on 26 minutes, though talking it in a dissatisfactory mood.

"The first goal was a bit dodgy, but I can't say for sure whether it counted. It's not up to me to decide that," he said.
