Special Report: 2008 European ChampionshipsSpain warmed up for Euro 2008 with a less than impressive victory over USA in Santander on Wednesday. The visitors frustrated the Spanish throughout the match.

The first half was a non-event, but Spain stepped it up a gear in the second half, Xavi hitting the bar with a dipping free kick. Just a few minutes later they strung together the best move of the night. Xavi found Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas in space. His layoff to Marcos Senna should have resulted in a goal. Eventually Xavi, easily Spain's best player on the night, waltzed through the confused-looking USA defense to fire home what turned out to be the winner.
The goal was a relief for Spain, but Spanish fans know that another early exit from a major tournament could be in the cards unless their heroes improve their form.
