Special Report:   2008 European Championships

PRAGUE, June 3 (Xinhua) -- The Czech Republic will use mobile stand in Austria and Switzerland and "fan embassies" to help Czech fans during the European soccer championship, the Czech Interior Ministry spokeswoman Jana Malikova said on Tuesday.

The stand will comprise a four-member experienced crew who already provided a similar assistance during the previous Euro as well as the 2006 World Cup, Malikova said.

The Czech stand's crew will be ready to mediate fans' contacts with the Czech embassies or the police in the two countries, Malikova introduced.

She said that Czech fans will also be able to seek help at the stationary "fan embassies" secured by the host countries, where they can gain information on the date of matches, and accommodation, transport, as well as contacts with Czech policemen temporarily operating near the stadiums.

The Czech Foreign Ministry previously announced that Czech consulates in Switzerland will reinforce their services for soccer fans.

The Czech Embassy in Bern will provide nonstop service on June 6-29.

If the Czech national team advanced from the group, consular services in Austria will be provided at the Czech Embassy in Vienna.

Twenty Czech policemen, two pairs in uniforms and other plain-clothes officers, will gradually move around Austria and Switzerland, to assist where the Czech team will play. Their task is to deal with problems Czech fans might face abroad.
