An estimated 12,000 fans packed into La Maladiere stadium in Neuchatel and got a good look at one of the favourites to take the European title. There was good news on the injury front too, with right back Jose Bosingwa shrugging off a muscle injury to join in. The new 31-million US dollar Chelsea recruit is hoping to grab a place in Luiz Felipe Scolari's starting line-up when the beaten finalists from Euro 2004 take on Turkey in Group A at the Stade de Geneve on Saturday.

Jose Bosingwa, Portugal Defender said "It's good to know that a lot of people support us. And of course these people would like to be able to see us playing many times. This is good and also we feel obliged to bring them some happiness."

Meanwhile, Turkey continued their preparations for their opening game of Euro 2008, when they take on Portugal, at their training base in Nyon, Switzerland. Fatih Terim's side can count on considerable local support from Swiss-based Turkish fans when they kick off in Geneva on Saturday.

Arda Turan said "I don't think we will have a problem with stamina. We have to act cleverly, we have to get the ball and if we have the right kind of motivation and concentration, then we will have a successful game."
