"Welcome to Beijing" not just a simple greeting,it's also the name of a new song that will be sung all across China. The song for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games 100-day countdown celebration, "Welcome to Beijing" was officially released Thursday.

Zhao Dongming (4th, R) and other guests symbolically release the song.

The song entitled "Welcome to Beijing," was written specifically for the 100 day Olympic countdown ceremony by Hong Kong SAR lyricist Lam Jik. Beijing pop sensation Xiao Ke melodized the ballad so that the world can hear the sounds from his hometown.

Lam Jik, Hong Kong SAR lyricist , said, "The lyrics of the song show that both Beijingers and the whole Chinese nation are happy to welcome our foreign friends. It reflects the Chinese people's attitude to the guests."

Visitors will get to enjoy several buildings in Beijing, including the Olympic venues, historical sites, and the terminal 3 at Beijing Capital International Airport.

"Welcome to Beijing" not only reflects the warmth of the Chinese people, but also shows that Beijing is confident and ready to host the Beijing Olympics at the one hundred-day mark.

As part of the scheduled activities for the 100-day countdown celebrations, 100 artists from the mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan will gather to perform the song.
