Ukraine defeated Chile 2-1, while Belarus piled further misery on Kenya by beating them 4-nil. Spain also beat hosts Azerbaijan, by that same score.
Both Ukraine and Chile went into the match on the back of defeats, but the Ukrainians started strongly and took the lead after six minutes. Two minutes later the South Americans leveled things up, Daniela Infant poking the ball in, after a good passing move down the right wing. Ukraine are eight places higher than Chile in the world rankings and justified their favouritism, when they scored the winning goal 17 minutes from time. In the second match of the day, Belarus took on Kenya. Alesia Tratsiakova scored into the far post for Belarus' first goal. After 12 minutes, Yuliya Laptsevich shot it in from a close range to double their lead. Two more goals then sealed victory for Belarus.
Finally, the Spanish team proved too strong for hosts Azerbaijan. Silvia Munoz deflected the ball past Viktoriya Shahba-zova to put Spain ahead 1-0. Their tally was doubled on twenty minutes, when Raquel Huertas scored with a penalty stroke, into the left side of the goal.
Rocio Ybarra then made it 3-nil, and the rout was complete when Ybarra scored her second from a close range.
