Defending champions Egypt reached the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations, despite drawing 1-1 with Zambia in the final Group C game on Wednesday. The draw eliminated Zambia, while Cameroon, who beat Sudan 3-0 in the other game on Thursday, joins the Pharaohs in the last eight.

The defending champions, who went into the game looking to secure top spot in the group after comfortable back-to-back victories, took a firm step towards the last eight at 15 minutes.Two minutes from time Zambia scored an equalizer by captain Chris Katongo, but despite his celebrations it was too little too late, and his side was knocked out.
