The 2007 Asian Fencing Championships has ended in Nantong, Jiangsu province, with Hosts China snatching another two golds on Monday . This brings their total collection of gold medals to ten.
Monday's competitions were between China and South Korea. In the women's foil event, the battle was tightly fought. The South Koreans who were also the reigning champions at the World Championships, built up the lead first. But Chinese fencers were determined and fought back to level the score at 21. Then the match was decided by the last shot. Veteran Chinese fencer Sun Chao didn't let her supporters down, as she helped China win the women's team foil title.
In the men's sabre team event, things weren't as thrilling. China dominated the match throughout, beating their South Korean rivals 45-29. China's sabre team have swept up all four gold medals on offer.
Maestro Christian Bauer, China women's sabre team head coach, said "I feel very happy. Our team has made lots of progress since the Doha Asian Games. So I'm very satisfied. "
