LOS ANGELES, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- The Los Angeles Galaxy lost 3-0 to Chivas USA Thursday night in a Major League Soccer in Carson, Los Angeles, despite supper soccer star David Beckham's presence.
Beckham played all 90 minutes in the game a day after playing for England in London in an exhibition against Germany.
Beckham, 32, played all 90 minutes in England's 2-1 loss to Germany Wednesday, then flew to Los Angeles Thursday.
Beckham, the famed English star who Galaxy management hopes will put the team among the world's top-grossing soccer clubs, has been unable to turn the Galaxy into winners in MLS play.
The team lost all three MLS games Beckham has played for it, part of a six-game winless streak and a 3-9-5 record that could cause it to miss the playoffs for the second consecutive season.
The Galaxy remains 12 points behind the Columbus Crew in the race for the final MLS playoff berth. The Galaxy has 13 games remaining, Columbus nine. Teams receive three points for a victory, one for a tie.
After a scoreless first half, Chivas USA took a 1-0 lead in the 58th minute on Maykel Galindo's goal. Chivas USA increased its lead to 2-0 in the 69th minute on another goal by Galindo, his 10th of the season. Francisco Mendoza scored in the 88th minute of the 90-minute game.
Both teams were forced to play with 10 players for the remainder of the game when Chivas USA defender Alex Zotinca and Galaxy midfielder Kevin Harmse were ejected for their participation in a scuffle.
Thursday's game was among those the team had told fans Beckham might miss because of scheduling conflicts with the English national team, but he made the decision to play, Galaxy coach Frank Yallop told.
