Special Report:   2008 Beijing Olympics

For any Chinese athlete, competing for medals in next year's Olympics in their own country probably represents the pinnacle of a career. But for paralyzed Chinese gymnast Sang Lan, this is no longer a possibility. However, she still hopes she can make some contribution to the Beijing Olympics and enjoy the 2008 experience.

Sang Lan was paralyzed in a tragic accident at the 1998 Goodwill Games in the U.S, and has recently been studying journalism at Beijing University. Sang Lan is hoping she can use what she has learned to make some contribution to the Beijing Olympics.

She carried the torch three years ago for the Athens Games, and hopes to do the same at home next year as part of a journey that will take the Olympic flame to five continents over 130 days.
