Paraguay have advanced to the quarter-finals after handing the United States a 3-1 defeat in Venezuela.

Edgar Barreto of Paraguay opened the scoring on the half hour mark. Ten minutes later, Ricardo Clark leveled things up for his US side.

But that was all they could do - in second half a goal from Oscar Cardozo restored the lead for Paraguay.

And, Salvador Cabanas sealed the 3-1 win with a free kick in injury time.

Argentina have also qualified for the quarter-finals after outperforming Colombia 4-2.
