Over to the Netherlands, Ajax and AZ Alkmaar will meet to decide who goes through to next season's Champions League after winning their Eredivisie playoff semi-finals. Ajax thumped Heerenveen 4-0 in Amsterdam to win 4-1 on aggregate. In Alkmaar,AZ gain a 2-0 win over unlucky FC Twente to see them progress to the two-leg final 3-1 on aggregate.

In Amsterdam, the home side levelled on aggregate midway through the first half: a shot was saved but Klaas-Jan Huntelaar was on hand to put away the rebound against his former club.

A minute later, Ajax were ahead in the tie thanks to a wonderful individual goal from Ryan Babel.

The young star left two defenders in his wake before driving home past Heerenveen keeper to put Ajax in front.

Huntelaar later added his second of the match to put Ajax 3-1 ahead on aggregate and in control.

With four minutes left, Ajax put the seal on their victory when a cross fell perfectly for substitute Kenneth Perez who swept home to make it 4-0 on the day and 4-1 on aggregate.

Meeting Ajax in the two-leg final would be either AZ Alkmaar or FC Twente who were locked at 1-1 after their semi-final first leg.

In the second half,Tim de Cler's shot from long-range was well struck but Twente keeper had a bad error to make it 1-0 for AZ.

AZ secured victory a minute from time: Julian Jenner threaded the ball through for Jeremain Lens, and he fired low past Twente keeper to make it 2-0 on the day and 3-1 on aggregate.
