Special Report: Doha 2006China remains unbeaten in diving at the Doha Asian Games after claiming both the men's and women's 3 meter springboard titles. Wu Minxia snatched gold in the women's 3 meter springboard event while the Men's crown went to He Chong.
Wu Minxia wins women's 3m springboard gold
Chinese Wu Minxia and He Zi performed steadily to build up a clear lead ahead of the other divers after the first round. The winner and silver medalist of the women's 1m springboard competition once again faced off as rivals.
He Zi concentrated on the high difficulty routine but Wu Minxia chose relatively easier ones and performed more steadily than He Zi. Wu Minxia's nearly-perfect dives in the third and fourth round earned her the highest scores and expanded her advantage to 10 points.
Although Wu Minxia made some minor mistakes in her final dive, it didn't stop her from winning the gold medal. She snatched the the title with a total score of 371.85 points, 5 points ahead of He Zi, who settled for silver.
He Chong clinches men's 3m springboard title
Later in the day, China also ruled in the men's 3 meter springboard event, as He Chong and Luo Yutong made a one-two finish.
He Chong scored a day-high 100.70 points for his last dive, claiming the title with a total of 530.40 points while his teammate Luo Yutong came back from a splash in the fifth round to take the silver.
