On the final day of the gymnastics competition at the Doha Asian Games, three East Asian powers have carved up the five gold medals on offer. In Wednesday's competition, Chinese veteran Zhang Nan continued her impressive form on the beam to grab the title. World champion Yang Wei from China shared the parallel bars title with Kim Dae Eun of South Korea. And World champion Cheng Fei added a third gold medal to the collection by dominating the floor event.
Zhang Nan just picked up a low difficulty routine of 6.0 and carried through each action with good balance and accuracy to win the less competitive title with 15.000 points.
Zhang Nan performed with a calm exterior during her routine, confident in her execution of difficult acrobatics skills and leaps.
World champion Cheng Fei powered through her difficult tumbling passes and performed with ease and grace to take her third gold with 15.750 points.
Cheng's teammate Pang Panpan finished second on 15.250 points. Pang, even though with injuries, carried through her performance nicely.
In the men's parallel bars, Yang Wei performed the highest difficulty routine among the finalists, but a little step on dismount cost him to level with Kim Dae Eun at 16.3.
Zou Kai replaced Xiao Qing in men's horizontal bar, and finished second with 0.125 points off Hisashi Mizutori's 16.075 points, which put him on top of the podium.
