The search continues for 21 Chinese seamen on a vessel that's gone missing for nine days in the waters off Taiwan amidst the turmoil of typhoon Morakot.

The missing seamen on the freighter "Changying" are employed by a Qingdao-based shipping company.

Shipping authorities say a Japanese rescue team found a seaman's body in a "Changying" life jacket near a Japanese island on Saturday morning. They also found a life raft and other lifesaving equipment.

The shipping company says the freighter had reported that water was in five of its cabins. The report said seamen had decided to abandon the freighter. It was the last report received. And that was ten days ago.
