China Unicom, the country's second-largest telecommunication operator, says it's taking all necessary measures to bring international communications affected by Typhoon Morakot back to normal as soon as possible.
The Hong Kong to Taiwan section of one of the company's submarine optical fibres linking China and north Asia was disrupted a week ago. But communications remained normal with the protective router in place.
However, technical problems occurred on the router along the section near Busan. This had a negative impact on telecommunications linking China with North America and Europe.
