As China's neighbor and a US ally, the Japanese media has closely monitored the China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue in Washington DC.

Japan's Asahi Shimbun newspaper cited the US President Barack Obama's speech at the opening ceremony of the dialogue, and says it indicated a strong desire to enhance bilateral relations between China and the US.

The Sankei Shimbun says the China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue shows the US sees developing relations with China to be very important.

While the Yomiuri Shimbun noted that China and the US have many mutual interests, and this is the basis for the strategic dialogue between the two countries.
