China's Ministry of Commerce says the ruling of the US International Trade Commission against Chinese tire imports is "not consistent with facts". |
A statement on the ministry's website on Friday says "The ruling of the US I-T-C on July 14 lacks objective evidence." Members of the US commission suggested 35 to 55 percent duties over the next three years on certain Chinese passenger vehicle and light truck tires.
The stated goal is to prevent or remedy the market disruption. A major industrial workers union filed the complaint in April. It argued the imports had cost thousands of US jobs and called for a ceiling on Chinese tire imports.
China says it hopes the Office of the US Trade Representative will advise President Barack Obama to correct the situation.
