At the fifth Cross-Straits Economic, Trade and Culture Forum, officials from the Chinese mainland have pledged to further open the mainland's cultural and education sectors to Taiwan. The pledge is part of an ongoing drive to facilitate cross-strait exchanges.

Culture Minister Cai Wu says cultural authorities are currently formulating policies to encourage and benefit the development of Taiwan's entertainment industry on the mainland.

The industry will be allowed to operate performance venues through joint investments and cooperation with mainland enterprises. Or they can fund such venues themselves.

He adds that entertainment industry brokerage companies will also be allowed to set up branches on the Chinese mainland.
