Special Report: Air France jet vanishes |
The body of a flight attendant aboard ill-fated Air France 447 has been buried in Rio de Janeiro, more than three weeks after the Paris-bound flight vanished with 228 people on board.
Crew members of a Brazilian Air Force Super Puma helicopter unload corpses of Air France airflight 447 passengers upon arrival at the Fernando de Noronha airport on June 11, 2009. Eleven of the 50 bodies recovered from an Air France jet that plunged into the Atlantic three weeks ago have been identified by fingerprints and dental records, Brazilian officials said Sunday. Hundreds of people attended the funeral at the Sao Joao Batista cemetery, including the crew member's mother, relatives and some Air France employees in uniform. 23 year-old Lucas Gagliano, was the only Brazilian national working on the flight. He had been working for Air France for 2 years and had returned to Brazil to attend his father's funeral 2 weeks before embarking on the doomed flight.
Rescue workers have recovered fifty bodies from the crash region, and at least 11 bodies have been identified. A press release on Thursday says two Air France employees have been identified the flight pilot and a male flight attendant.
