Financial crisis top issue in Chinese President's talks with SCO members

On the sidelines of the summit, President Hu Jintao held talks with leaders of SCO member and observer countries. Uzebekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, all three are SCO members.

President Hu's respective talks with each of the leaders focused on the current financial crisis and the way to survive the downturn.

Bilateral cooperation, joint projects, exchange programme are key words during China's one on one talks with the three major central Asian powers.

Hu Jintao also talked to leaders of two SCO observer states--Pakistan and India.

Regional peace dominated China's talks with these two neighbor countries.

During talks with his Pakistani counterpart, president Hu said China is willing to help the Pakistani government maintain social stability. China has decided to provide nearly four million US dollars in additional aid to Pakistani refugee settlement. Previously, China has offered 1 million dollars in cash as well as materials worth over four million dollars in humanitarian aid to Pakistan.

Border issue highlighted Hu Jintao's talks with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Both sides agreed to resolve the issue at an early date, and not to let the issue undermine overall bilateral ties.

Singh said that India recognizes Tibet as part of China and will not allow anyone to carry out anti-China political activities on Indian territory.
