The country's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has ordered an investigation into allegations of election fraud.
The move offers hope to reformist candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi and his supporters contesting the re-election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Despite an Interior Ministry ban, tens of thousands of Mousavi's supporters streamed into central Tehran.
Their demands are simple but clear.
Since Friday's election, many of them have been wondering how almost 40 million handwritten paper ballots were counted in just a matter of hours.
Mousavi Supporter, said, "We're here just to say NO to Ahmadinejad. We already all of us, we said YES to Mir Hossein Mousavi Friday night, and because of corruption, they corrupted our election."
Their pro-reform leader, Mir Hossein Mousavi didn't let them down.
He made his first public appearance since Friday's elections to address the crowd, which was over nine kilometers long.
"Our people are after respect, their votes and their right."
