Special Report: Iran presidential election 09 |

As Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is elected to a second term, there are expectations of reform on the country's economic front. But there are also doubts that the country's strong foreign policy stance will change.

Observers say there were bright spots in Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's first term as Iran's president. These are seen as key factors in his re-election.

Among them is his favorable policies for the poor.

Low-income families enjoyed more subsidies from the government.

And more facilities were built in the country's remote regions.

His frequent visit to those areas helped him gain support from the poor.

A thrifty life style also adds to the hard-line president's popularity.

In addition, Ahmadinejad didn't cave in to demands Iran halt its nuclear program.
