Brazil's Defense Minister, Nelson Jobim, has confirmed that debris spotted by air force pilots on the Atlantic Ocean belongs to the missing Air France plane with 228 people on board.
The items were verified on Tuesday night, with both metal and non-metal materials detected in the water about 1-thousand kilometers northeast of the Brazilian coastal city of Recife.
Jobim said no bodies have yet been discovered.
