He will meet with CPC General Secretary Hu Jintao, the second summit between the heads of the governing parties on Taiwan and the mainland. Their first meeting in May of last year was regarded as a milestone in the history of cross-Straits exchanges. The two sides reached broad consensus during that meeting on ways to promote and diversify cross-Straits ties. Both sides expressed a desire to see cross-Straits exchanges continue.
Other important events during Wu Poh-hsiung's current trip include a visit to Nanjing's Sun Yat-sen mausoleum to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the death of the revolutionary pioneer. He's also expected to discuss the timetable for the 5th KMT-CPC forum.
