The 1992 Summer Olympic Games, were held in Barcelona, in the Catalonia region of Spain. Barcelona is the city where former IOC president Juan Antonio Samaranch was born. In the early 1990s, with the Olympics looming, beautiful, old Barcelona reinvented itself as a highly modern city.
