UK, is on two occasions – 1908 and 1948 – the capital, London, has hosted the Olympic Games. And of course, it will do so again in 2012. One sport in which Britain has a very strong Olympic tradition is equestrianism. By contrast, in the history of the modern Olympics, it’s the only sport in which China has never been represented. But that’s set to change at the 2008 Beijing Games. China will finally have at least one competitor in the equestrian events – and he is only 18 years old.

I can’t help wondering what makes an Olympic horse so expensive. Well, to find the answer, there can be nowhere better to go than Britain – the home of modern equestrianism and horseracing.
