In the winter of 1997, a disastrous snowstorm swept through the Northern Tibet Grassland. It lasted nearly eight months, adversely affecting nearly the entire Nagqu area. Transportation was blocked -- communication was interrupted – and the people in the Tibet Autonomous Region were in dire straights.

When the disaster struck, the Central Government immediately dispatched a large number of rescue troops to the disaster area. In the meantime, many journalists arrived on the scene; Wangdu from China National Radio was one of them. Gama was a member of the Nagqu CCP Committee – and he was with one rescue team. They were heading to Chazouwoma Village in Nierong County, one of the most remote villages. But before long, the rescue team found themselves trapped by the snowstorm.
Even though time was passing, heavy snow continued to fall. The experience was mentally and physically draining and exhasutingfor the rescue team.
After fifteen days’ hard work, the road was finally cleared. But what kind of days and nights did they go through? They say they experienced what can only be described as going beyond the limitations of human beings.
