Among the noise of images, I present you with blue, the colour of the universe. Blue is a door to the soul, the unlimited possibility that becomes reality.

“Golden bell” is the meaning of the name Jinzhong, as in Jinzhong Town. A group of farmers from Jinzhong Town founded the Golden Bell Literary Society in 1995.

They met regularly to discuss what they had read, and to read out their own writings. They also published a magazine, called Golden Bell Literature.

Later, the members of the Golden Bell Literary Society started an evening class to teach the local farmers’ children.

The evening class teacher was Chen Wangchun, one of the founders of the Golden Bell Literary Society.

The town of Jinzhong is located at a height of 3000 meters above sea level. Its villages are scattered among the mountains. Cultivated land covers the slopes.

But the weather is cold, which means only wheat, highland barley and beans are able to grow there.

It was the day when the magazine of the Golden Bell Literary Society was to be published. Jinzhong is located in the poor and isolated mountainous region of southern Gansu, and the only way for the literary society to keep in contact with the outside world was via the post office.

Yang Yincong, chairman of the literary society, was responsible for contacts with the outside world, and he spent most of his time at the post office.

Having finished the printing, Zhang Guangyi took the magazines down the mountain to Yang Yincong’s home in Jinzhong. From there, they would be delivered to readers in the town.
