Lizhuang is an ancient town in Sichuan Province. Nearby is the village of Yueliangtie, which is famous today as the place where Liang Sicheng wrote his great work, 'The History of Chinese Architecture'. This was the first book tracing the development of Chinese architecture, written by someone who was himself Chinese. In the final episode of our series about war-time Lizhuang, we'll find out how such an important book came to be written in such an out-of-the-way place.

It was only after receiving a letter from Chongqing that Lin Huiyin realized just what Fu Sinian had done for them. She was deeply moved. In a letter to Fu Sinian, this proud and talented woman thanked him. She also told him of her unease at being unable to contribute to the war effort, and instead having to be looked after by others.

More than sixty years have passed, and many things and many people have faded into history. But the legacy of Yueliangtian Village in Lizhuang from all those years ago, and the people responsible – the China Society of Tectonics, Liang Sicheng, Lin Huiyin, the 'History of Chinese Architecture' – still exert an influence on us today. And they will continue to do so for generations to come.
