Special Report: 2009 NPC & CPPCC Sessions
Intro:
Hello, and welcome to the last edition of Voices and Votes this year. I am Yang Rui reporting live. Premier Wen Jiabao says that he is confident that China can survive the current financial crisis because China has a big and deep domestic market, abundant labor forces and talented people. He says China's financial system remains sound and safe and does not need fiscal rescue. Premier Wen makes the remarks at the closing ceremony of the top legislature Friday morning.
But he says he does worry about the risks of the heavy investment in the state bonds of the US. He urges the US Government to honor its credibility to protect the value of the Chinese investment. After nine days of deliberations, the annual plenum of the 11th national committee of the National People's Congress approved the blueprint for China's economic and social development that was outlined in the government work report of Premier Wen Jiabao.
Joining us now here live in the studio are Mr. Wang Huiyao, vice chairman of the Western Returned Scholars' Association, Dr. Zhang Jianfei, mayor of Changsha, capital of Hunan province, and Mr. Francesco Sicis, Asian editor of La Stampa. In the next one hour of last edition of this special live coverage, we shall talk to Mr. Du Ping, leader writer of Lian He Zao Bao of Singapore in Singapore in a telephone interview, and Mr. Jonathan Hoslag, research fellow at Brussels Institute of Contemporary China Studies, head of research of EU-China Academic Network in a satellite interview.
