Special Report: 2009 NPC & CPPCC Sessions
Background Report:
Intro:
Hello, I am Yang Rui with Voices and Votes and reporting live. Premier Wen Jiabao says in his state of the union speech that his government will exhaust every means to create jobs. He says that priority will be given to migrant workers and university graduates. Twenty million migrant workers have been made redundant and nearly 7 million university graduates are seeking jobs.
But, Premier Wen says only 9 million jobs can be created hopefully this year. The non-public sector of the country's economy used to solve 70 percent of the employment of the Chinese economy turns out to be the first casualty of the financial tsunami. Besides the pinch of unemployment seems to be made worse by the international re-allocation of human resources. Therefore, there could be the rise of trade protectionism since economic nationalism or racial problems threaten to emerge.
Today we are joined live by Dr. Tang Min, Deputy Secretary General of the China's Development Research Foundation under the State Council and Professor Patric Chovanec with Tsinghua University. In the first part of the program, we shall be talking to Professor M D Nalapt with the Manipal University of India in a telephone interview and hear how he view the job market in India, another big emerging market. But, up first, let's look at this.
