Intro:
Hello, I am Yang Rui with Voice and Vote brought to you live from Beijing. Today we focus on China's diplomacy. Chinese foreign minister Yang Jiechi says at the press conference Saturday morning that Chinese diplomacy will take a wholistic approach in combining the domestic political and economic stakes with the country's global vision and strategy. It means that diplomatic maneuvers will help increase China's global influence through trade and investment.
Such an agenda sounds more important at this moment as the deepening financial crisis is taking its toll on industrial and developing countries. But, will dollar diplomacy help ease the Western concerns over Tibet and human right? How can China project an image of greater integration and responsibility without arousing negative nationalism?
We are joined here by Mr.Tao Wenzhao,Senior Research Fellow from CASS and Mr. Walter Hixson, an American visiting scholar with the China Foreign Affairs University. In the ensuing telephone interviews, I shall be talking to European and Asian Scholars to share their concerns about China's military build-up and the financial crisis.
