Most Chinese here tend to examine the US-China relations in a love-hate complex. They say that China and the US are neither friend nor enemy --- they are competitors. China says it is pursuinng a peaceful development to dispel the fear that China's dynamic economic growth will pose a serious threat to the world. Meanwhiel, given the "9.11" incident, the US is fast becoming more aggressive in its war on terror. Now the sole super power is viewed as a world police as a result. That's not a very nice image for the Chinese here.
