While Chinese observers and overseas investors marvel at the rate of growth over two decades, the Chinese government is seriously concerned with the negative side of the national conditions. Basically, they argue, China is an agricultural country. More than half of its population live in rural areas or are struggling in the urban areas as migrant workers.
For many of them, the living conditions are appallingly poor in comparison with that of the urban residents. Besides, the medical care system in the rural areas is a huge problem. The central government has done what it can at the moment to reduce the burden of the farmers. In doing so, they try to guarantee social stability and boost domestic spending.
