After his three-day official visit to Girgistan in Central Asia to attend the 3rd prime ministers鈥meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao will go to Moscow. This will be the first of its kind since Premier Wen took the office early last year. The Chinese premier鈥檚 visit takes place shortly before the construction of a key oil pipeline starts between Khazarkstan and China鈥檚 Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region while talks over building a similar pipeline between Daqing and Russia鈥檚 Angarsk came to an embarrassing standstill due to Japan鈥檚 involvement. China says it respects Russia鈥檚 environmental concerns but vows to fight to the end. This competition for energy in East Siberia and in Central Asia constitutes a test of China鈥檚 will, vision as well as its strategic partnership with Russia.
