Another 38 precious relics have been added to the National Museum of Chinese Characters. As construction approaches the final stage, the museum is soliciting exhibits worldwide and building up its own collection.

Located in Anyang, in central Henan Province, the National Museum of Chinese Characters covers 54-thousand square meters. It aims to have a collection of 4,000 exhibits by the time it opens at the end of this year.

The latest additions include 26 bronze pieces and 12 pieces of jade. All of the antiques are well-preserved and have high cultural and historic values.

Wei Wencui, the curator of Chinese Character Museum said, "Part of these relics were recently excavated from ancient tombs dating to the Shang Dynasty, some three thousand years ago. They are extremely precious, and will make an important part of the museum's collection."

Still falling short of the required number of exhibits, the museum has been calling on institutions and collectors at home and abroad to contribute to its collection.

The Museum, featuring the evolvement of Chinese characters since ancient times, will show cultural relics including rubbed stone inscriptions, bronze vessels, Chinese seals, ancient coins, bamboo and silk, and the calligraphy work of different dynasties.
