People from all walks of life have been contributing to reconstruction efforts in the quake zone of Southwest China's Sichuan province since the region was severely damaged by the deadly earthquake May the 12th last year. Big names from the entertainment industry have contributed their efforts too. They are raising public awareness for those who need both physical and mental assistance.
The song "Courage" might boast some deeper meaning when it is sung in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province. Pop singer Michael Wong visited the area just before International Labor Day. There, he joined earthquake volunteers in singing this number.
Singer Michael Wong said, "These volunteers lent their helping hands to the quake victims when the Wenchuan earthquake jolted the region. And they've been offering non-stop help to people in the quake zones. So I came here to visit them."
Michael Wong is extremely popular among college students. A chorus consisting of around 400 students of the Chengdu University of Technology sang Wong's "Courage" to show their support for people living in quake zones.
Michael Wong is of course not the only showbiz luminary to visit Sichuan. Hong Kong's Miriam Yeung, Charlie Young, and Louis Koo, who are currently UNICEF Ambassadors, paid visits to Mianyang to find out the current living conditions of people there.
Actor Louis Koo said, "The three of us visited the same place a year ago. Now here we are, paying visits to the same place again to see how their lives have changed."
