The final round of the "National Outstanding Pop Songs Competition" kicked off Friday night at the CCTV studios in Beijing. Unlike its predecessors, which focused on the performers, this time around the competition puts lyricists and composers under the spotlight.

The final round of the "National Outstanding Pop Songs Competition" kicked off Friday night at the CCTV studios in Beijing.

The audience members in the front rows of the 1000-square meter-CCTV studio are the lyricists and composers of songs that have made it to the final round.

Xia Yu, Director of National Pop Songs Competition said "There are close-ups tailored for each lyricist and composer while their works are being performed. And also an elaborately edited video introducing the lyricists and composers is played in front of every number during the live show."

Joining the competition are both professional composers and amateurs from across the country.
