On the local stage, the 7th CCTV Short Sketch Competition dropped its final curtain Wednesday night in Beijing. Hundreds contestants from around the country have battled it out in the grueling week-long competition in the CCTV studio, vying for the coveted top prizes in both professional and non-professional categories.

The top prize of the non-professional category went to "Responsibility", a piece chosen by the Ministry of Public Security of China. "Eight Months in My Life", representing Beijing Military Region, and "Suffer Through Your Own Misdeeds" chosen by Tianjin Television, garnered the second and third prizes respectively.

In the professional category, a piece representing the Political Department of the Air Force entitled "Fire Horse", was honored with the top prize. Awards for second and third went to "Shooter" and "Bus Station on a Rainy evening".

Over one thousand short sketches earned entry into the competition. And more than 3-hundred made it to the semi-final. Eventually, 36 pieces were chosen to enter the final round.

Cao Hongmei, director of the 7th CCTV Short Sketch Competition said, "A great number of performers were drawn to this competition. The larger the number of participants, the larger the number of excellent pieces that come out of it."
