The seven films were meticulously selected by the event's organizer, China's State Administration for Radio, Film and Television, which believes these movies represent recent achievements in China's film industry. The films, including "Forever Enthralled" , "Assembly", "Painted Skin" all did well at the box office in China.

Zhang Jun, Chinese ambassador to the Netherlands said, "The festival is being held to cater to the Netherlands' increasing demand for Chinese culture. Along with the development of China, people in Holland show greater attention and interest towards all things Chinese. The event was held to meet the momentum."

Along with the film festival, a photo exhibition opened at Hague's city hall to showcase society's progress in Tibet over the past sixty years.
