Heralded as the "hottest artist on the classical music planet" by the New York Times, Lang Lang played a sold-out recital in London on Tuesday.

Tickets to Lang Lang's concert at the Barbican Center were sold out a week before the performance. Performing with the London Symphony Orchestra, this 26-year-old prodigy wooed British audiences with his phenomenal skills.

The meteoric rise of Lang -- who began playing piano at age two -- is the stuff of legend.

For the first time, London audiences were treated to "Fire", a new piece that Oscar winning composer Tan Dun tailor wrote for Lang Lang.

The concert was part of a Chinese New Music Festival organized by the Barbican Center. The two-month event aims to present the best of Chinese contemporary music and artists in Britain.
