Produced by the award-winning British team responsible for the BBC series "Planet Earth", the film presents a narrative about three animal families -- polar bears, elephants and humpback whales.
Director of "Earth" Alastair Fothergill said, "Well we thought that nobody had actually made an epic movie about the whole planet's wildlife. What we wanted to do was an epic movie that should celebrate the beauty and the natural history of the whole planet and that's what the earth movie aims to do."

The team says the movie is to show people the wonder and beauty of the planet on which they live.
To coincide with the release of the film in the US, Disneynature has launched a "Buy a ticket, Plant a tree" initiative. For every person who sees "Earth" between April 22nd and 28th, Disneynature will plant a tree. So far, 500 thousand trees will be planted.
