Visitors are swarming to central China's city of Luoyang this spring and not only for its blossoming peony flowers. As the host of the 2009 World Stamp Exhibition, Luoyang has become a Mecca for philatelists from around the world.

The exhibition kicked off April 10th in the new hall of Luoyang Museum. All the 84 members of the Federation of International Philately have gathered for the exhibition, ensuring its success.
Coming from over 110 countries and regions, philately organizations have brought more than 3-thousand framed stamp collections. Among them are 80 frames of world- famous stamps such as the "Penny Black" from the British royal family collection. This was issued in 1840 as the first stamp in the world.

Chinese philatelist Zheng Guorong said, "Stamps convey the development of our world. They also bring us closer to histories and cultures from other parts of the world. "
The appeal of the city of Luoyang, one of the ancient capitals of China,is also an asset.
To commemorate the exhibition, more than 20 countries have issued stamps featuring the peony, the floral symbol of Luoyang.
