The process of selecting the winner of the Plum Blossom Award, the highest honor for opera performers in China, is underway.

The process of selecting the winner of the Plum Blossom Award, the highest honor for opera performers in China, is underway.

Unlike previous years, the Plum Blossom Awards will be held in the form of competitions. Audiences can appreciate the performances of excellent opera stars as they compete for China's highest trophy in opera. To cater to the different tastes of audiences from northern and southern China, the competitions will be held in Pingdingshan of Henan province and Hangzhou of Zhejiang province simultaneously.

The winner will be generated from fifty performers ranging over twenty one opera types across China. The final winner will be announced in Hangzhou in mid May.
