Tibet, with its unique landscape, culture and art, and religious traditions, is probably at the top of many people's list of places to visit. And Tibetan people are welcoming visitors from around the world.

Jokhang Temple, in Tibet Autonomous Region's capital Lhasa, is a world famous tourist site for visitors from home and abroad. A group of travellers from south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region came to the temple soon after their arrival in Lhasa on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau train.

A tourist from Guangxi said, "Tibet is a divine and mysterious place for us tourists. We have dreamt of visiting Tibet for many years and now it's like a dream come true."

In early spring, tourists can still see the snow on the mountain tops while also enjoying the sunshine.

And visitors in Tibet this week can feel the festive atmosphere as the first Tibetan Serf Liberation Day draws near. Local residents are busy rehearsing their performances for the celebrations on Saturday.

Over the past fifty years, Tibet has experienced tremendous changes. And, regarding its cultural heritage, 1400 temples, cultural relics and religious sites have been renovated. Many cultural items have been discovered and preserved. The cultural treasures in Tibet are not only found in museums they have become part of society.

Tibet received 2.2 million visitors in 2008, and the number is expected to reach 3 million this year.
