Rock N'Roll music, motorcycles and Ray-Ban sunglasses were all essential elements of the 1960s. Now they're back at the forefront of vintage fashion. On Thursday evening in Beijing's trendy Yugong Yishan club, two of the three fashion symbols combined to present a concert called "Returning to the Classics".

The night was definitely a treat for local rock fans. Two bands from the UK, the Young Knives and the Kills, plus Chinese local rock group New Pants headlined the gig. They played much of their own material as well as selected hits from the 50s and 60s.

Since breaking into the music industry in 2002, English geek rock band the Young Knives has become known for its energetic live performances and their taste in tweed outfits. And they very much enjoyed their Chinese debut.

Beijing band New Pants were second up on stage and took the audience back to the New Wave era. Formed in 1996, they are one of the most acclaimed live bands in China.

The grand finale was given by indie rockers the Kills. Formed by American vocalist and guitarist Alison Mosshart and British guitarist Jamie Hince, the duo have garnered much critical praise internationally for their intense live performances.

Many rising artists in China joined in for the re-launch of Ray-Ban's iconic shades, the Clubmaster. The show has already been successfully staged in New York, which was the first installment of a three-city world tour. Beijing is its second stop, while the third will be held in Milan, Italy later this spring. Each event offers unique and exclusive live performances.
