Eating "Gutu" during the New Year's eve banquet is another Tibetan tradition.
"Gutu" is made of wheat flour. Tibetans wrap things in the Gutu, such as beans, salt, coins and even goats' hair - all have different meanings.
A Lhasa Tibetan said, "What I have here is goat hair being rolled inside the Gutu, which implies the accumulation of wealth. It's a good sign."
In Shangri-La, Yunnan Province, old Drolma's family is busy preparing for the coming New Year. Her family now earns about one million yuan per year by running a shop selling local specialty.
Drolma said, "Life is good now. There are more travelers under the positive government policy. It has become easier to earn a living."
