A holiday to admire the snow covered lands of Tibet in winter is not an unreasonable choice. Located near Linzhi, Cuogao Lake is a sacred place for Tibetans. On the surface of the crescent shaped lake you can see a reflection of the snow capped mountains. During the winter, it exudes a distinctive spirituality of local life.

Linzhi has become the first stop for tourists visiting during the winter. At an altitude that's much lower than other places in Tibet, the region boasts a more temperate climate. It is also accessible by road and air.

During the past winter, Tibet entertained more than 20 thousand foreign tourists. In addition to Linzhi, there are a number of other winter attractions. In the latter half of 2007, the local tourism authorities launched a promotional campaign and opened a series of destinations for winter sightseers.

Zha Nuo, the deputy director of Tourism Bureau of Tibet said, "We are offering discounts to tourists, including airline tickets, bus fare, admissions, and hotel accommodation. A lot of services are available at a reduced price. During the winter, tourists can enjoy a very comfortable tour in Tibet. Also, the costs are much more affordable."

The trend of winter tours to Tibet continues to grow among people thinking of travelling to the autonomous region.
